To upgrade on Windows, follow the steps found in the npm documentation. Setting Up the Boilerplate Application. It is possible to manually create a React app, but Facebook has created a Node package create-react-app to generate a boilerplate version of a React application. If for some strange reasons, the path to react-native is not in the PATH, you should take note where the react-native executable is installed. Generally, the issue with command not found is because they are not in PATH. For example, I use nodenv and run npm install -g react-native. Using the create-react-app command If you do not want to install react by using webpack and babel, then you can choose create-react-app to install react. The 'create-react-app' is a tool maintained by Facebook itself. This is suitable for beginners without manually having to deal with transpiling tools like webpack and babel. I have the same issue of create-react-app failing. The first few times tried it, the create-react-app my-app worked, but since then, it has refused to work, so I'm virtually stuck with only one React app on my pc. The npm install -g create-react-app works well, but the create-react-app doesn't work anymore.

Create React App lets you create a modern build setup for your React apps in no time. You install the tool and focus on just building your actual app.
Update:
Use the
npx
command to install Create React App and create a new app, all at once. For example: npx is a tool that's included with npm, as a version 5.2, that makes it easy to install and run packages, especially command-line tools like Create React App.

With React, you can make components using either classes or functions. Originally, class components were the only components that could have state. But since the introduction of React's Hooks API, you can add state and more to function components.
Hooks were introduced in React Native 0.58., and because Hooks are the future-facing way to write your React components, we wrote this introduction using function component examples. Where useful, we also cover class components under a toggle like so:
- Function Component
- Class Component
You can find more examples of class components in previous versions of this documentation.
